Go Dad Run Ambassadors and Supporters

Go Dad Run founder and triple world champion athlete Colin Jackson will be joined at Silksworth by fellow world champion Jamie Baulch and Sunderland footballing legend Kevin Ball as they set the runners off and then put the medals around their necks when they cross the finish line!

On the day registration – location and opening time

Registration will open at our Event Hub at the athletics track from 9 am and will close ten minutes before the beginning of each run so please arrive nice and early!

Please note that when you arrive at the Event Hub you’ll be required to sign in with your unique number you received by email when you registered online or though one of our charity partners.

You’ll then be handed your runner number, timing chip, Y’fronts and T-shirt and be ready for your warm up!

Please be aware that there is a slight slope at the very start and finish of the course as you leave and enter the running track at the Event Hub.

Online entry has now closed for the Sunderland Go Dad Run but you can still sign up at the event hub by the Athletics Track on Sunday morning !

We will only be able to accept cash entries as we have no facilities to take credit or debit cards at the trackside.


Free for boys aged 0-9 who are running with a registered adult
£10 for boys aged 10-17
£15 for men aged 18 and over


£20 for men aged 16 and over

Charity and Sponsorship

The reason we are all working together to stage the Go Dad Run events is to get men thinking and talking about their health and also to raise funds for our five wonderful charity partners. Once you complete your registration you will have the opportunity to sponsor or support Prostate Cancer UK, Bowel Cancer UK, Orchid, CALM or St Benedict's Hospice. Thank you!

Getting There

The ski slope car park can be accessed from the A690 (Durham Road). At the McDonalds drive-thru head along North Moor Lane. The entrance for the car park is on the left after you drive past the lake. The start area will be at the athletics track close to the ski slope.

The Tennis and Wellness Centre can be accessed from Silksworth Lane and from there it is a short walk to the start. There is also access to a large overflow carpark from Silksworth Lane across from the cricket ground.


These will be situated near to the Event Hub.

Bag Storage

This is located next to the registration tents at the Event Hub. Please note that space is limited so it is best to travel as lightly as possible.


The group warm up will commence approximately 20 minutes before the 5K is due to start.

The start

The 5K run will begin at 10.30 am so we will start gathering you into the start area at 10.20 am. The run will finish where it began at the athletics track.

The 10K run will start from the same place, 10 minutes after the start of the 5K.

Please be aware there is a slight slope at the start and finish.

The finish

When you cross the finish line you’ll be handed your Sanlam Go Dad Run medal and your Big Yellow Goodie Bag. The first three home in each of the 5K and 10K will also be awarded special prizes.

Venue information

Silksworth Community Pool, Tennis & Wellness Centre is situated on Silksworth Lane, New Silksworth near Gilley Law and Plains Farm, which is a short distance from Sunderland Wellness Centre.

Built on the site of the former Silksworth Colliery, which closed in 1971 after a century of mining heritage, the Centre has a 120 + state of the art gym, 25m Swimming pool, Virtual Group cycle arena, Virtual group exercise studio, a second group exercise studio, 8 indoor international standard tennis courts, 10 outdoor tennis courts, a function suite and café facilities.

There will be marshals around the course to support and encourage you.

Please take care when running around the course as this is public land and local residents will be out and about. Please always stay on the left unless otherwise guided.

Drinks and snacks will be available at the finish line and there will be a water station on the course.
